Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at homebody.brittney@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, nervous system-focused form of bodywork that works with the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain, brainstem, spine, and sacrum.

When the nervous system has been under prolonged stress, the body can begin responding to signals that are no longer supportive or accurate to the present moment. Using slow, intentional, non-invasive touch, craniosacral therapy helps support regulation within the nervous system and encourages the body to soften tension and protective patterns.

At Homebody Wellness Collective, our approach is rooted in biodynamic craniosacral therapy, emphasizing safety, stillness, and the body’s natural ability to reorganize itself when given enough support and space.

Massage primarily focuses on muscles and soft tissue tension, while craniosacral therapy works more directly with the nervous system and the body’s stress response patterns.

Sessions are much slower and gentler than traditional massage and use subtle touch, stillness, and nervous system regulation rather than deep muscular manipulation.

Craniosacral therapy is also a fully clothed offering, making it a great option for people who may feel nervous, overstimulated, or uncomfortable with more traditional massage settings.

Many clients seek craniosacral therapy when they feel chronically overwhelmed, burnt out, emotionally exhausted, highly sensitive, or stuck in “fight or flight,” especially when deeper pressure feels overstimulating to their system.

Clients often seek craniosacral therapy for support with:

  • chronic stress and nervous system dysregulation
  • anxiety and emotional overwhelm
  • burnout and exhaustion
  • sleep difficulties
  • grief and life transitions
  • chronic tension patterns
  • trauma recovery support
  • headaches and jaw tension
  • feeling emotionally or physically disconnected
  • difficulty slowing down or relaxing

Sessions begin with a conversation about what you’ve been experiencing physically, emotionally, and mentally.

You’ll remain fully clothed and rest comfortably on the table while your practitioner uses gentle, non-invasive holds and light pressure placed on areas such as the base of the head, temples, shoulders, sacrum, or feet to support the nervous system and observe areas where the body may be holding stress, tension, or protective patterns.

Sessions are intentionally slow-paced and designed to allow the body space to unwind naturally without force.

Some people experience deep relaxation, emotional release, warmth, subtle movement sensations, memories surfacing, or an increased awareness of their body during sessions.

At Homebody Wellness Collective, we prioritize consent, pacing, nervous system safety, and body awareness throughout every session.

Our practitioners understand that the body can hold stress, emotions, and protective responses over time. Rather than trying to “fix” or push through those patterns, sessions are designed to support the body gently and collaboratively.

Clients are never expected to relive trauma or explain personal experiences in order to receive care.

Sometimes. The nervous system and emotional experiences are closely connected, and many people notice emotions surfacing as the body begins to relax and feel safe enough to soften protective patterns.

Emotional responses are welcomed without judgment, but sessions are never about forcing catharsis or pushing emotional release.

Many clients simply leave feeling more rested, grounded, and connected to themselves.

This depends on your goals and the level of support your nervous system currently needs.

Some clients come monthly for maintenance and regulation, while others benefit from more consistent support during periods of chronic stress, burnout, grief, major life transitions, or emotional healing work.

Absolutely. Many clients find that combining therapeutic massage with nervous system-focused work creates deeper and longer-lasting relief.

Massage can help address muscular tension patterns, while craniosacral therapy supports the nervous system’s ability to settle, regulate, and integrate the work more fully.
